This blackthorn branch fork or "Y" was collected from shore of Carsington water, Derbyshire, England. The Blackthorn is seen as a protective tree and representative of the endless cycle of life and death.The tree itself is said to be protected by the fairy folk. It is considered a fairy tree and is protected by the Lunantishee, a type of fairy that inhabits it. An extract from Wood Wands by JK Rowling on Blackthorn " wands made from this wood appear to need to pass through danger or hardship with their owners to become truly bonded. Given this condition, the blackthorn wand will become as loyal and faithful a servant as one could wish"
