This blackthorn branch fork or "Y" was collected from shore of Carsington water, Derbyshire, England. The Blackthorn is seen as a protective tree and representative of the endless cycle of life and death.The tree itself is said to be protected by the fairy folk. It is considered a fairy tree and is protected by the Lunantishee, a type of fairy that inhabits it. An extract from Wood Wands by JK Rowling on Blackthorn " wands made from this wood appear to need to pass through danger or hardship with their owners to become truly bonded.
