Raglan Manuka Pendant

Raglan Manuka Pendant

£260.00Price

This hand shaped pendant is made from Manuka driftwood, it was found on Manu Bay, Raglan, New Zealand. Manu Bay is the first, and most popular, of the well-known Raglan point breaks. It is a long left-hand point break on a boulder beach.

Manuka timber is noted for its great strength and hardness, combined with a considerable amount of toughness. Manuka is a pioneer plant that grows en masse where there's a gap and enough light. It operates very much like gorse, growing in almost pure swards and taking over whole hillsides, eventually to be replaced by taller growing species, which shade it so much it dies. The manuka acts as a nurse plant, creating a sheltered environment for other more delicate plants to establish themselves.
