Driftwood Shaper came about after a sailing trip across the Atlantic and it is a culmination of pursuing dreams and producing products we truly believe cannot be brought anywhere else! We're a small company whose products are all made by us in the UK!

Visiting Aotearoa's greatest living monument.

Approx 30 Km northwest of lake Taupo on State Highway 30 is the largest recorded Totora Tree in Aotearoa (New Zealand). Taking a path through the forest that is not well used, leads you to an old tree, well over 1500 years. Not bad for such a young country in human terms as well as geologically. When we are travelling we always schedule in taking some chill time, it is great to take an afternoon out and spend it in the presence of a tree that is truly great.

Mold Design and Finished Soap

In making our own molds we started with a shaped piece of pine which was collected from the Route De Louis XI forest just north of the Loire Valley in France. Keeping it company is our Soap for Seawater. The soap rack timber was collected from Barafundle Bay in Pembrokeshire, Wales is of our own design which required the making of three jigs. The wood when cutting smelt very much like Iroko.


I'd like to explain the reasoning behind our packaging. The non existence of plastic in our packaging is a key concept for us. As a result all of our products (Soap for Seawater and Driftwood Pendants) are packaged in cardboard boxes and sealed with a brown paper tape. The use of cardboard came about because we wanted to remove plastic packaging from the soap, and this philosophy filtered into the packaging for our pendants. The pendant packaging follows exactly the same principles as the soap - no plastic. So we decided to use a cardboard box of the same design but a different size. But we felt that the pendant posted on its own in the box wasn't sufficient and we wanted something to stop t
